haha. so okay, its a new year. and its like so fast, this coming tuesday a new batch of sec ones are arriving. oh god, i hope my juniors will be in it. so at least i noe some of them. haha.
will be having dance on saturday starting on like 24 feb. then 10 march no dance, cos sec 3s have something on. oh, and we have new teacherr in charge. she's mrs tian and she replaced mrs soh. yupps. thats it

Isnt it true that we do not miss wat we have n when the person or object left, u wish they were back. isnt that wat most people r wishing. i believe many of us r wishing that huang is back, no matter how stern he was. OH YES. WE miss u seniors. Wish u were there... must come and visit us! hahah... things r upgraded. CCA fair is this saturday n hope got gd people come... will see abt it... remeber to see the dance board! hahah!

girls, dance is about passion. not just passion but character. i know that sometimes, dancing the same old routine over and over is super boring. but it's just like everything else, once the passion is fading, in comes your character. it sorts of builds your character. but without passion, you would not even know about dance. dance is where you can give your all, your emotions, and everything else. love it while you can (:

chinese dancers:: please remember to smile your very best. we have taught you guys how to smile already. now, it's up to you. whether you want to or not. bamboos are included. ;)
modern dancers:: sometimes, it's not just about you yourself. you guys have to work as a team. for eg, ponche. some can lift til 180, some lift til like 135. guys, compromise. it wont be neat if everyone lifts to a different height. yupp. please be cooperative. work with the leaders in your dance, lynn, margaret, anthea.
get Gold with honour, prove to the others that we can do it. work well with huang laoshi, with his skills and experience, we have a Gold secured, now it's up to us to get one with the HONOUR. alright? (:

charlotte: heyy! guess what! i felt the exact same way last year! i really wanted the sec fours to have the best farewell ever.. hehe and it din exactly turn out the way i wanted it to=) its really stressing i know. but i can assure u, after this, u'll feel much less burdened. cox there will be no more of such stuff=)
dance:though the farewell was kinda short, all of us really appreciated everything, the gifts, the time and effort u all have put in to make the farewell a success.. thanks!
guess it was an accident that i got into dance. i almost cldnt! cox i totally din know bout the audition and all. so i happily strolled down to dance studio, jus to find no one there except ms julia yeo. so this was how MY audition went:
yeo: can u do a bridge?
me: no.
yeo: can u do a split?
me: no...
yupp. then it ended. hahas. was kinda funny now that i recall..but if it werent for this chance to get into dance, i wouldn't be who i am now. i wouldn't be peckying...
but i have to say that i am proud to have u all as my juniors and most importantly, i am proud to be in dance. there's so many things i wanna say, so many experiences to share. but its just too difficult to put it in words. cox everything is imprinted inside and its impossible to convey how i really feel...
i wanna see dance soar. soar as a team.

to all sec4s:
hey.time flies past so fast.this day seemed like eons away when we were sec 1s.remember the day we stepped into the dance studio for auditions which were carried out mrs julia yeo?the souvenirs then were the multicoloured ribbon necklaces with the straw pendent of our leotard.dance then was,quite obviously,not a bonded cca.then came sec 2,when we got to do our 1st item~{!*~}the chinese new year dance.the biggest event of that year was promenade.still,it wasn~{!/~}t enough to help gel us together.nov2002-july2003,SYF!alas,a superb time for everyone to get to know one another better.the pain went through together.the frequent complains of training being such a pain.the tears shared after the performance.the elation felt upon hearing the results.all these,we did together.we~{!/~}ve all helped create a bonded,united dance,a cca I believe with people who will stick by one another no matter what.remember the crazy things we would do at one point or another,didn~{!/~}t we had fun??dance camp,the first ever.sleepless.bridge.peter pan.bridge.catching in the dark.bridge.cramped up on mats.an awesome treat for all of us!
sadly,it~{!/~}s the point of time when we have to bid farewell to all our wonderful juniors and one another.i am going to miss all of you very very very much.i guess it~{!/~}s going to be very hard for anyone to find another bunch like us who loves dance so much.all the wonderful times we have shared will always stay fresh in my memory.i love yall to pieces.peace out -oli

i'll miss all the com meetings all the lameeee jokes all the craps n gossips. i'll miss the times when we go crazy in the dance studio singing. dancing. playing catchings...
i'll miss all the meeting ups and going for dance concerts. will we still get to do that next year? i'll miss huang n su's lessons...esp all the nicee music in su's cd collections. most importantly...I'LL MISS EVERYONE IN DANCE! i really really really love the times we've had together. all the preformances...the things we do while waiting to perform. all the diaoings. the tears, when we almost lost faith in ourselves. the sweat that we've put in for EVERY dance performance. the feeling of being so united, to dance as ONE. the sense of accomplishment we'd feel after every performance...EVERYTHING. i'll miss everything in dance. i love the feeling when i'm in dance.i know i'll never get to experience this kind of feeling anywhere else again...
i cant wait for the farewell. cox that's when i'll be in dance, be with the whole society again...but... when its over...its the time i really have to bye to dance, as much as i hate to...

some nice tips i came across for everybody! :)
-Remember to always keep straight when you are in the ballet class. The teacher loves seeing her/his students keeping their posture perfect, just like a ballerina. Maybe in the beginning you will keep forgetting, but don't worry, if you keep doing it you will get into the habit.
-Smile when dancing. Always look happy and graceful while dancing. The teacher will be very happy. You want her to know that you are enjoying the class.
-Don't dance like a robot! Relax and most of all HAVE FUN! If you have noticed, most ballerinas look so soft and light when they are dancing.
-When dancing keep shoulders back and down, even if you are tired.
-stretch before a class, so you can be warmed up. You will be able to keep your leg higher and if you stretch very well, you won't feel stiff after the class.
-STRETCH EVERY SINGLE day in order to improve flexibility and strength. This is very important, it is easier for someone who is flexible to do certain exercises, than for someone who isn't flexible.
-When dancing try and imagine yourself in front of an audience. Believe me that helps! It makes you perform better.
-Try not to forget to POINT your toes and stretch your legs very well when you are supposed to. Teachers always know if you are pointing your toes or not. Trust me, it looks VERY ugly if you don't point your toes.
-Keep a notebook in your ballet bag, so you can write down the corrections your teacher told you. This helps you remember stuff and this way you can improve A LOT! If you write stuff down then you can practise at home and next time you have a class you will know your exercises very well.
-LISTEN to the music when you are dancing. Dance WITH the music. If the music is fast then DON'T dance slow. It looks awful when you don't go with the music. You are also supposed to feel the music.
-Try and keep your balance while doing certain exercises. Balance is hard to have, but if you practise, you will be able to keep it! Imagine that there is an invisible string pulling you from your head. That always works when you want to keep your balance
-At home practise the exercises your teacher gave you. Do pirouettes (sp?) everywhere. My teacher told me that you have to practice them every day!
-Try to avoid chatting with your friends while having a class. The teacher will get annoyed. Especially when the teacher is thinking of a new exercise to give you, KEEP QUIET! She/He is trying to think.
-NEVER say the word: "I can't do this". You can do everything when you set your mind to it. You don't want your teacher thinking that you give up easily. It might be difficult to do a certain exercise, but if you practise you will be able to do it in no time.
-Don't break any rules your school has, for example: don't take water in your class, wear proper ballet clothes and always put your hair in a bun
-Always show that you are interested in ballet and that you want to learn, because if you are always bored then the other students in the class will think you are boring and you might influence them. They might ignore you! If your teacher hears you complain all the time, she/he will think you are not interested in ballet.
-Don't be scared to ask your teacher questions. A teacher loves it when she/he sees her/his students asking questions and being interested in the lesson
-When doing exercises don't always copy the others. Try and remember the exercises, so the teacher knows you know them and you have been listening to everything he/she said. If you don't know the exercises ask a friend or teacher before the lesson.
-Put yourself at the front of the barre. This will force you to know the exercise because there will be no one in front of you to watch. Eventually you'll be able to pick up on things faster.
-If there is someone in your class who is better than you and can do everything perfectly, dont say to yourself: its not fair that she can do it. Why does she get to be so perfect when I am so bad at everything??Instead say: i bet she had to practise very hard to do that, so if I practise I bet I could do it better than her?
-My teacher says that if you sweat at the end of the lesson it means that you have worked hard. If you dont, then try harder. So make it your goal to sweat after every ballet class because then you know you have worked hard.
-In between exercises don't just rest and sit down. I was told that you are not allowed to sit down in class. Try breathing and stay put except if your teacher asks you to move of course (lol).
-If your teacher tells you where to put your head in each exercise don't ignore her/him. Do it. TRUST ME. Once I was looking at some girls dancing and they kept looking in the mirror all the time when they were supposed to be putting their head in the corner or when they were supposed to be looking at their hands. It looked REALLY ugly. You look more graceful when you are looking in the right place.
-Most importantly don't miss any classes. If you do, ask your friends what they did in the last class and ask them to show you any new exercises.
-If your teacher gives you a correction, try your best to do it. Dony just nod and wait until the next exercise begins. Make sure you have mastered the exercise she corrected you on or at least make sure your teacher is looking at you trying to master it. If she/he sees how much you care about corrections she/he will give you more and then you will improve and be perfect!
-Try remembering every correction your teacher gives you so you can write it down in your notebook and then you will not forget it.
-There are many people here on dance.net, who complain about other students in their ballet class correcting them. You might think they are doing it just because they want to show that they are little-miss-perfect or something, but who cares. Listen to every correction and if you think they are right then keep the correction in your mind.
-NEVER go to class untidy or with messy hear, or without your ballet clothes. Then your teacher will think you dont care about class. If you forget your leotard or something apologise or try and find someone you can borrow.
-When you are in the changing rooms ask your friends to repeat some new exercises with you, so you can remember them for the next lesson. If they are not interested ask your teacher.
-If you have any time off cca, try improving. Lets say its the holidays. Practise and home and set up some goals and try to achieve them. This is the perfect time to improve.
-If there is someone in your class or in your studio you admire, try to see what you admire about them and then try to be like them. For example: if one girl in your class has very strong legs, try working on your strength. See the positive points of the dancers you admire and try to use them as well.
-Hydrate yourself properly everyday. You will be more flexible and have more to give when you're not unhealthily dying of thirst. Get in the habit now when you're not in a classroom all day. Drink 8-12 glasses of water per day, more if it's super hot and you're exercising tons. Believe me this works. It not only keeps you cooler it also increases your flexibility in some way. I cant dance if I am dying of thirst.
-When doing things in groups watch the other groups and listen to and apply the corrections even if they aren't directed at you. This will really help you improve.
-Always lift up and out of your knees and hips with your inner thighs even if you are just standing there because then the teacher can see that you have engaged all your muscles and are working properly, not just doing the exercise any old how.
-Before the class try going over the new combinations and stuff and check with your friends or seniors if u are unsure about them!
-When the teacher is busy doing something, or thinking, or has left the class, dont just walk around doing nothing. Stretch a bit, or redo the combinations or try and master stuff you havent completely mastered yet.
-If you come late to class, this is what you do:
1) Wait until the combination is over and then walk to your place
2) Tell your teacher why you're late and apologise
3) Don't join in what the other dancers are doing right away, stretch and do some plies on your own first (this is if you get there after plies).
-Do not where any jewellery except ear sticks to class.
-Focus your eyes when you dance, don't let them wander.
-Go to the bathroom and get a drink BEFORE class, teachers hate when students need to go to the bathroom during class. Although it might happen to you once (wanting to go to the bathroom, I mean), try not to repeat it again
-Always do your best and put your full effort into class, teachers care so much more about your effort than if you can do a combination properly or not. Teachers always love seeing their students trying their best in class.
-Try arriving at the class as early as possible so you can stretch and get changed without having to rush to get ready for class.
-Never chew gum to class. All teachers hate it when their students are chewing gum during the lesson. It is also dangerous.
-Try showing your best side. Pretend you are at an audition or you are at an exam or that you have to be chosen by a lot of girls to play in this perfect ballet show and that you have to try your very best to get the place. Dont moan when your teacher makes you do something you dont want to.
-Raise your hand before asking a question and make sure the question is relevant with what you are doing in the class.
-I am sure most of you know that when switching sides while doing an exercise you have to turn toward the barre. If the exercise is finished dont sigh loudly or say: thank god that exercise it finished? Breathe and stay in the ending position for several seconds.
-If you are doing centre exercises and you get mixed up or do a mistake, dont just stand there and wait with your hands crossed, look at what the others are doing and continue, even if you might find it difficult to do some steps.
-When someone is new in your ballet class try taking the chance to teach them what you have learned until now in the other classes. The teacher will probably be so impressed by what you are doing.
-If your ribbon accidentally comes off or something, go to the side of the class and as quickly as you can fix it.
-Always be nice to the others in you ballet class, even if you dont particularly like them. Dont fight with people in your class or form cliques within yourselves. Not only will it create a bad atmosphere, it affects the unity of the class. make friends with everybody!
-In your dance bag make sure you have everything you need for class. try not to forget anything!
-Try your best in all the exercises even if you dont like some of them.

! gorsh. think all sn dance peeps should go visit them! to see how disciplined they are!here's wat i've observed:
no talking AT ALL during ji ben gong and while ji zhong-ing!!! its sooooo diff frm us. the pres dun even have to keep them quiet!impressed impressed!.
they dont slack!! at all! though huang was concentrating on pai-ing the dance, the rest actually got into grps to revise other stuff. and did loads of stretching!hahas. i wonder what we'll be doing during our free time...
oh. and they really actually carry out the chao xie thing. 40 words. 50 times.and its the least amt they have to write... hahhas. and guess what. we actually found out that huang told a lie! he told them that we also had to chao xie if we're late!hahas!
haiyarr.there's still loads more. but i shant type anymore..they're very diff frm us.yes! and we've got to learn frm them!!=) lalalas. enriching experience.=)!!

1. place your shoes neatly by the wall outside dance studio! 2. pack your pinafores etc.into your bags and zip it up! 3. do not leave any rubbish in dance studio.esp waterbottles/plastic bags.. 4. keep quiet when ji-zhong-ing or when you're doing ji-ben-gong! 5. be punctual for dance! get changed and ji-zhong by the given time esp after sch practices! 6. be in proper attire at all times unless you have valid reasons! 7. always provide MCs/excuse letters if absent from dance!
punishment - do oversplits for the no. of mins that you are late! names will be taken down and blacklisted!

i just watched the nutcracker
it was a pretty cool ballet
it better have been considering the weather i braved to get into the theatre!

well i never knew the nutcracker's story was like this
it was performed by the moscow ballet
from russia
the lead was fine
but i would have rather watched american ballet company's
there were different types of ballet.
chinese ballet, indian/arabian, spanish, classical, russian
that's because the toymaker made all those different toys
the first part was boring
but after the interval it was damn good
all the pas de deux were really really good
especially the arabian one
wish i could have taken pictures
but i'ld probably get arrested

the lead's pointe was freaking nice

Yo! Peeps. Heyas… think we’ll have more those kinda bonding sessions. Esp between the levels. Sec 2 n 3s dun seem to mix so much. Yeaps. So maybe thru the bonding sessions, we’ll not dance as individuals or in cliques, but dance as one ( like wat ms oh said ). As a whole dance team! I attended dix talk which ms low conducted. She said dat the difference between an organism and an organization is dat organism is living, it has a life, like amoeba, it splits itself to more cells, all from one nucleus, thus having the same thoughts n feelings, having the same goals in life, therefore it is effective cox there will b no conflicts and it grows…
But an organization is just a structure made up of people with diff talents hence conflicts arises and is not as effective.
I hope dat dix dance society is like an organism and not an organization not jus bcox it is more effective, but bcox it has a life n not jus a dead structure.
Okok ? pple. Dat will b our aim! Haha so inspiring rite…

GOLD!double champions! gosh. so exciting. gosh. gosh. gosh.cant stand it! I LOVE YOU GUYS! whole of dance. MUACKX. BIG HUG! yea. anw, list of ppl to thank.
1. the school, ms choo, mrs cheong: for giving us dis opportunity to take part in SYF. n esp. to ms choo, for coming down to acsb to watch our rehearsal, n oso for ur words of encouragement.
2. our instructors! mr soh, mr ng, ms cindy: thanx for the GREAT choreography and guidance! we cldn't haf done it without u guys! altho sometimes, we really hate ur nagging n scolding, but we knows its for our own good. thanx for being dere!
3. to our tcher i/c, mdm chng, mrs koh n ms leong: u guys r great! thanx for all the reminders, nagging n stuff u all did when we were blur n lost. thanx for always being our faithful supporter n caring 'mothers'!
4. to the badminton team: thanx for letting us use the hall for the past few months. we know u guys had lots of trouble, but still, we r grateful to u all for giving us a space to practice.
5. to ms oh n mrs tham: thanx for ur words of encouragement. it helped to move us on...during our 'last lap'. =)
6. to the uncles n aunties in the school: thanx for stayin back so late to wait for us so that u can lock the studio n hall.
